Jean-François Lauda (b.1981) is a painter living and working in Montréal, Canada.

Lauda has developed his painterly language through a distinctly intuitive approach. By building and overlapping towards an expansive surface, he puts forward disparate pictorial spaces that develop just as they disintegrate into subsequent layers. These marks can be indexed in relation to each other and within the whole painting, constituting a palimpsestic surface that continuously reveals itself over time.

Lauda has had institutional solo and two-person shows at Fonderie Darling and Fondation Guido Molinari (both Montréal). His work has been reviewed in Border Crossings, Art Forum, and Frieze. His work is in the collections of Hydro Québec, TD Bank, Scotiabank, National Bank of Canada, Prêt d’oeuvres d’art du Musée national des beaux arts du Québec as well as numerous private collections in Canada, The United States, and Europe.

Jean-François Lauda (né en 1981) est un peintre qui vit et travaille à Montréal. Lauda a présenté son travail dans des expositions solos et en duo dans des institutions telles que la Fonderie Darling et la Fondation Guido Molinari (toutes deux à Montréal). Son travail a fait l’objet d’écrits publiés dans divers revues telles que Border Crossings, Art Forum et Frieze. Ses œuvres figurent dans les collections de Hydro Québec, TD Bank, Scotiabank, Banque Nationale du Canada, Prêt d’œuvres d’art du Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, ainsi que dans de nombreuses collections privées au Canada, aux États-Unis et en Europe.

Parmi ses récentes exposition, l'artiste a présenté ‘Recent Works’, un solo à Shoot The Lobster, New York (2023), Black Box Theatre et Meet Me by the Lake, deux expositions collectives à Clearing, New York (2024), ainsi qu'une présentation solo à The Armory Show avec la Galerie Eli Kerr (2024).
